Guitar Tricks is the oldest provider of online guitar lesson videos. They got their start way back in the late nineties and have taught thousands of beginners how to play the guitar since then.

With over 3000 professional video guitar lessons from 45 different instructors there’s something for beginner and intermediate players at Guitar Tricks.

All of their lesson content is neatly organized into three sections starting with Guitar fundamentals 1 & 2, then moving on to either Blues, Rock or Country specific lessons as well as specific songs and skills lessons.

Beginners will have the structured learning environment they need to learn the basics while more advanced players can pick and choose from a variety of styles and techniques at their leisure.

Guitar Tricks is a little less expensive then JamPlay at only $14.95 a month and they are currently offering a 14 Day Free Trial promotion. You can sign-up here and gain instant access to all 3000+ lessons and practice tools for two weeks.

Jamorama Review

Best For: Beginners Cost: $99.95 One time

Jamorama is a downloadable guitar lessons course made up of a mixture of lesson books, audio clips and video clips. Aimed at the beginner guitarist Jamorama sets out to teach you everything you need to know to play popular songs on the guitar.

While there is a vast amount of lesson content covered in the course I have to say that I prefer online lesson videos better then a mixture of lesson book and videos.

It’s not that all the content isn’t covered in the Jamorama course, it’s just that for me I enjoy learning by watching rather then reading.

For the price I feel that they should have more videos included rather then just the short snippets, and make it more of a video course rather then an ebook with multimedia features.

GuitarJamz.com Review

Best For: Beginner, Intermediate Cost: $29.00 per month

Guitar Jamz is a reasonably new site but the instructor, Marty Schwartz, has been providing awesome lesson content, primarily on YouTube, for the past few years. Guitar Jamz is the culmination of Marty’s extensive catalog of beginner, intermediate, blues and rock guitar lesson videos.

While Guitar Jamz isn’t as “spiffy” looking as Guitar Tricks or JamPlay there’s some really great content available and Marty is a fun teacher to watch.

The down side to Guitar Jamz is the video and audio quality could be a lot better, and the organization of the lesson content inside the membership area leaves a lot to be desired. For the $29 per month price point I feel you’ll get a lot better value at JamPlay or Guitar Tricks for less money.

FreeGuitarVideos.com Review

Best For: Beginner, Intermediate Cost: Varies by video

FreeGuitarVIdeos.com has been online since about 2000, the parent company, Watch & Learn, specializes in video lessons for not just the guitar but also drums, bass, keyboard and other instruments.

Their website has a ton of great material on it but the video quality could be a lot better. The videos look as though they were recorded in 2000 and haven’t been updated since. I’m also not a huge fan of their “pay per video” pricing model. I much prefer the monthly membership fee of sites like JamPlay and Guitar Tricks.

There are hundreds of students who buy lessons from FreeGuitarVideos.com each month, how ever I feel that you’ll get more online guitar lessons for you money if you sign-up for a monthly membership website rather then pay for videos one at a time.
